Agitprop Art
Recently I’ve had the desire to create propaganda art. In 2015 our local Escape ARTfest’s theme ‘Clash’ gave me the opportunity to try my hand in the ‘Bendigo Bank Postcard Art Prize’. My idea was to visually promote an Australian version of a left-wing socialist state . . . ‘The Democratic People’s Republic of Australia’. I also used this medium to promote my concept of a children’s book about an adventurous Russian space dog. My designs basically follow the style known as ‘Agitprop’ (Soviet in origin - ‘agitatsiya propaganda’) with a colourful pop art look. Have I succeeded in persuading you to join the cause?
